Pressure sensing plays a crucial role in automated chest compressions, ensuring that the compression depth is correct and can be individually adjusted to the patient’s body type and the course of treatment. Depending on the selected operating mode, the device also checks the position of the compression pad during therapy after each ventilation pause or after 100 compressions. If the chest has caved in due to previous compressions, any difference in height between the pad and the chest is compensated for. This ensures that the set compression depth is always maintained. A linear, mechanically and electrically redundant conductive plastic potentiometer was developed specifically for this application.

The device is used for targeted radiation therapy in cancer treatment. Inside is a rotating assembly that contains up to 10 different scattering foils and flattening filters. This allows the patient to be treated individually with appropriate radiation therapy. To ensure that the foils and filters are precisely aligned with the radiation distribution, Novotechnik potentiometers are used to position the rotating assembly.
